Retail Candle Packaging

Hi Everyone,

Can someone share where I might find quality votive retail packaging? I am looking for the clam shell type packaging that Yankee uses for their votives. I have a shop and I have run out of retail packaging for my votives. I would like to find a container that holds 13 votives. Like a Bakers dozen kind.. Buy 12 get 1 free sort of thing. I am pretty desperate at this point so any help would be much appreciated.

Scent Throw Revisited

Hi fellow chandlers,
One area that I believe we can all be very helpful to one another is sharing info on which scents give us a good throw.
The way it could work is anyone having trouble with throw in a particular could post that information and then anyone who has experienced good throw with that fragrance might be willing to share the supplier's name so the one having trouble might buy a sample from that supplier to see if it works for them.

Candle Coloring Tip

One of the toughest things to do in lighter colored candles is get a uniform look from batch to batch when using a very small amount of dye. Colors such as Ivory which for my application requires a tiny amount of dye so small I had no way of getting exactly the same amount in every batch.
My solution for ivory was to melt two dye blocks of brown into 2 lbs of wax. I then poured this mixture into tart molds.

Best Rate UPS rates from Wax Warehouse Partners

Warehouse Partners/Best UPS Rate

Brian Bock/The Candlelier has just pointed out that some Chandlers would have a lower UPS rate from one wax warehouse partner rather than another depending on the exact location of each Chandler.

All of the wax warehouse partners work as a team. If any Chandler determines that a better UPS rate is available from one warehouse location than another just contact your own regional warehouse partner. Let them know the location that you want your wax shipped from to achieve the best rate UPS. The warehouse partners are all committed to providing excellent service to all Chandlers. They will coordinate their effort to achieve this.

Wax is, indeed, ready to ship

Hello fellow chandlers! I just wanted to let you know that I contacted my wax distributor (Melonie Throne) and ordered some votive wax. I was in a pinch to get a big order out, but I did not relay that to her. I want you to know that I received the wax the NEXT day! I know this may be a bit much to expect on a regular basis, but it left me elated.

Also, I ordered a bunch of votive trays and a heat gun from the Belbecks (Ewe-R-Wooly folks). They also arrived post haste and in good order. The heat gun has already out lasted 2 I bought from a different supplier.

I encourage you all to support our chandlers in their distribution efforts. I know what they're doingi is not easy when we all have a million other things we need to do for our own businesses. Good job guys! Customer service is where it's at!

Regional Warehouse Partners Are Ready to Serve You

The Phytowax Regional Warehouse Partners were recently organized. During the last few weeks the warehouse partners have worked together to stardardize incoming freight expenses. The warehouse partners all pay incoming freight on wax inventory, so that cost must be added to the price of the wax. Standard Phytowax prices are now posted. You can request shipment by UPS from your regional warehouse or if it works geographically, you can drive you own vehicle to the warehouse for your region.

Thanks to all at the First Congress

It was a pleasure to meet so many enthusisatic people at the First Congress. Due to my schedule, I was only able to attend the first part of Saturday. In that time I spoke with many people asking for information on labels and labeling.
I have some of your business cards - but there are many of you out there that I would like to get in touch with. I wish that I would have kept a list for you all to sign. Wasn't there some talk about posting a list of attendees here on the website? Thank you Mike for allowing me to attend and having the opportunity to speak with so many wonderful people.

Wax Facts: Beeswax, Paraffin, Soy

1. Question:
Would you recommend the use of beeswax as an additive to a soy wax?

Answer: Beeswax as a candle wax is excellent for several reasons:

1. natural source wax
2. mythical/historical value and perception.... beeswax has been in use by human beings for 50,000 years. Traditional churches such as the Catholic church require 51% beeswax in liturgical candles in the canon law of the church. Beeswax has a rich tradition in human culture.
