The Chandler Guild was established to be a self-organizing alliance of independent small candle makers. There are no staff, there are no dues to pay. Under these circumstances, we've accomplished a lot culminating with the First Continental Congress. We've learned some valuable lessons and now it's time to start moving forward with The Chandler Guild - The Next Generation!

Submitted by aromazona on Wed, 12/01/2004 - 20:14. Chandler Guild Training Ground | All SIG NewsI was wondering if anyone knows what causes soy candles in jars to turn yellow. It seems to happen when exposed to sunlight. Is there anything that can be done or added to prevent this. I appreciate any help.

I'm rather surprised and dismayed that it wasn't announced on or through this site.

Accumulation Of Oils In Jar Candles
Submitted by aromazona on Thu, 05/06/2004 - 15:22. Chandler Guild Training Ground | All SIG NewsHello All,
Has anyone else experienced oils accumulating at the tops of their jar candles? I am fairly new at making candles and I noticed that my jar candles are starting to accumulate liquid (oil) at the tops of the candles. Some have little beads and others have alot of accumulation. I don't know what is causing this. I keep then in a 78 degree climate, so it is not because of the summer heat. I would appreciate any help on this matter.
Shipping Candles In Hot Weather
Submitted by aromazona on Thu, 05/06/2004 - 15:10. Chandler Guild Training Ground | All SIG NewsHello All,
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on shipping candles in hot climates? I live in Arizona and our temperature are well over 100 degrees during the summer months. I am starting to get requests to ship and I don't know what to do.
Thanks

Any help would be appreciated.

Best way to clean up votive molds?
Submitted by joanhanlon on Thu, 03/11/2004 - 12:57. Candle Production and Quality SIG | Chandler Guild Training GroundMy candle business centers around the sale of votives, so I am ALWAYS making votives. The containers get "yukky" after about 3 pours and the candles start getting rough on the sides. Any helpful hints on washing up? I have about 100 molds, so it takes about a 1/2 day to clean them all up and start over.
Thanks.....

How to Ship Candles
Submitted by alightsoy on Thu, 02/12/2004 - 15:30. Candle Production and Quality SIG | Chandler Guild Training Ground | General Supply Research SIG | Marketing and Business Presentation SIGHi! I generally make container candles and I'm curious about what others here do to prepare their candles for shipping? Is it wise to add something to the wax to harden it so the candles don't crack during shipping? What shipping method do you use? I'm interested in any ideas I can get!
Thanks,
Amanda Drew
Alight Soy Candles
Wax is too soft--Additives?
Submitted by alightsoy on Thu, 02/12/2004 - 15:25. Candle Production and Quality SIG | Chandler Guild Training GroundHi! I'm still fairly new to soy candlemaking and am very new to the guild, but so far its been pretty helpful. Before I knew about Soyawax brand, I had already purchased a large amount of soy wax from a different supplier. In the future, I'll be buying my soy waxes from Mike, but I have way too much wax to get rid of it and buy new.
The wax I have makes great container candles, but I've begun to make tarts and votives also, with not so great results. When its cooled, the tarts and votives are so soft that they often crack or the ruffled egdges of the tarts break off!
