ANNC #6: Web site tips and Table of Twelve Election Poll

Guildmember Mail List Archive

Hello Village Chandler Guildmember,

Web site access tips and soliciting your vote in an on-line poll are the
subjects of this announcement...

====================
= Web Site Access and Use Tips
=

I keep an eye on the access logs of the Chandler Guild web site for
signs of problems members might be having. By far the most numerous
frustrations seem to be with failed log ons. Two things will help you with
painless log ons:

* Remember your username and password is CASE SeNSiTIve and punctuation
sensitive. If you signed up as 'Joe Candleman', logging on as 'joe
candleman' or 'JOE CANDLEMAN' etc. will not work. The same is true of
entering your password.

* If you regularly use a non-public computer for Chandler Guild web site
access, consider using the 'remember me' feature. There is a checkbox under
the username and password text entry fields. Click to put a checkmark in
this box and our site will put a 'cookie' on your computer that will allow
your access rights to be remembered. You won't have to log on again until
you intentionally log out.

Nothing personally identifying and no sneaky identity tracking is done
by the Chandler Guild web site. And we don't solicit or maintain any
financial or detailed personal information that should prevent you from
using the convenient 'remember me' feature. Remember, DO NOT use this
feature if you access our site through a public computer such as one at the
library or in an airport.

Also, if you remember your username or e-mail address of your account
bug have forgotten your password, you can request that the server reset your
password and mail it to you at the email address you used to create and
verify your account.

On to a different topic, you'll fin it easy to keep track of comments
posted on the site by logging on and using the 'View recent comments' link
on the right-hand navigation links. One frustration (it's a bug that will be
fixed in an upcoming update of the site) is that clicking the individual
comment titles in the bullet list under a story, article or diary entry will
result in the display of the primary story/article/diary and the comment
selected. Any intervening comments that provide the context or thread of
communication that may have led up to this comment are not shown.

TIP: The best way to keep abreast of recent comments in their
full context is to first click the View New Comments link (after you are
logged on) which will display a page of items with recent comments.
Next, click on the link of the story, article, or diary entry under which
a bullet list of recent comments is shown. By clicking on this 'parent'
link,
you will see the entire thread of comments attached to the parent story,
article, or diary entry.

And don't forget, if you have any trouble accessing the Chandler
Guild web site, don't hesitate to drop us a note at

webmaster@chandlerguild.com

We'll be happy to help you or answer any questions you
may have.

= Table of Twelve Election Poll - Opinion, please...
=

Those of you keeping track of the upcoming Chandler Guild
Continental Congress know that we will be holding an election of the
Table of Twelve. See:

http://chandlerguild.com/first-continental-congress-agenda.php#sat-ev5

The Table of Twelve is our Executive Committee of folks who will
step up to the challenge and opportunity of accepting leadership positions
to help us take the Chandler Guild from a loose, unorganized on-line
community to a peer-managed, collaborative business network (AKA a
microenterprise network).

We have one burning question that we need your immediate opinion on...
That is, should only Guildmember delegates attending the Congress be allowed
to run in this first election of the Table of Twelve, or should be allow
folks to nominate themselves ahead of the event and submit a 'platform
statement' of who they are, why they will be a good member of the Table and
what agendas they will most likely champion in this position?

You can let your opinion be heard by voting in our on-line poll here:

http://chandlerguild.com/node.php?id=94

In addition to registering your vote, you can add comments or questions
to this poll questions that will help us determine how we should handle this
very important organizing issue.
