Training Sessions

I would like to see 'separate training sessions' set up in different areas aka: accounting, business plans, setting up, layout floor plans, liability, creating a pillar candle, finding your niche, problem solving, etc. These would be set up in classroom style with Chandler Guild Members with the most experience teaching the workshops. If it were organized appropriately, people could choose from, say, 4 workshops per weekend (1 Sat. am and 1 Sat. pm, say 1.5 hour sessions each and the same on Sunday). We would still have plenty of time to fit in other activities. Yes it would be busy, but, oh well, that is to be expected.
Sincerely,
Carol

Some of this, but Year 1 will be a bit more Getting Organized

Hey Carol,

Excellent ideas, and we will have a bit of this kind of content at the First Continental Congress of the Village Chandler Guild. But our thematic allusion to the Continental Congress is no accident.

Before we can settle in to 'business as usual', we'll have some community-wide thinking to do to decide just what the Village Chandler Guild is, how it will work, what levels of participation will be supported in this microenterprise network, etc.

So this first meeting will be the milestone launch of our Formative Year. In our forthcoming official Continental Congress agenda announcement and formal Guildmember invitation, we'll detail just what we hope to accomplish in this meeting.

I can tell you that one aspect of the Congress will be the formation of a set of 'sub-communities' or SIGs, Special Interest Groups, who will be working committees to address such issues as Guildmember training, business support services, web site content and webmastering, etc.

We'll have a couple sessions at the Congress to address technical and business issues, but think more in terms of a 'step 1' that will lead to such manufacturing/craft topics and business development issues.

While we will likely have a single Big Deal annual meeting, we don't need to limit ourselves to this once-a-year get together model. Many of us actively working on initial Congress planning believe that this kick-off meeting will be the Big Bang that will spawn an on-going collection of topical and regional meetings, workshops and business development sessions.

So, Carol, please put on your thinking cap and bring your interest and enthusiasm to the First Continental Congress of the Village Chandler Guild. We'll need folks like you with real needs and solution-oriented energy that will help this business/organization/community evolve to be all it can be.

Thank you for your insights and timely comments.
