Chandler Guild and Big Sky Chandlers In the News!

The Chandler Guild Community | Press and Media Information

Big Sky Chandlers Jim and Timlynn beam in the light of the soy wax candles they made during Village Chandler training.Publicity about your Village Chandler business can be tough to get. Our home-based, small businesses can seem like small potatoes to many media outlets. This is especially true once you've already been covered in the 'local human interest' category of your area newspapers.

But, please note, our &quot'What's old is new again" dimension of the Chandler Guild can help you get some local publicity! And every bit of local media coverage helps the big picture, too. So, we're very interested (that's Sohodojo and Soyawax on behalf of the Chandler Guild) in helping to tell our collective story to your local media outlets.

Sohodojo Timlynn at Village Chandler training in Cedar Rapids, IowaAs an example, here's a story that just appeared in the Havre Daily News, Modern institute turns to medieval business model. Tim Leeds has written a pretty 'heady' article, mentioning guild business models, Richard Florida's creative class, rural entrepreneurism, etc. Havre, Montana, is a very remote rural town of about 8,000 (if we count everyone within a hefty stone's throw). So this article is not too typical fare for our town. (Tim's hoping the AP will pick up on the more general appeal of this article so it might run in other Montana papers. Good luck, Tim, we have our fingers crossed, too!)

Check out this article. Imagine yourselves and your Village Chandler business in place of us and Big Sky Chandlers. Think about a local paper where you'd like to help share the story of what you're part of here at the Chandler Guild, then give it a whirl! Don't hesitate to point folks to this web site, especially the press information page. And please don't hesitate to refer press contacts to either Mike Richards of Soyawax or us (Jim and Timlynn) at Sohodojo. We'll be happy to talk with folks from the media who want to know more about the 'big picture' of modern guilds and how the Internet relates to this emerging form of local home-based and small business.
