Best way to clean up votive molds?

Candle Production and Quality SIG | Chandler Guild Training Ground

My candle business centers around the sale of votives, so I am ALWAYS making votives. The containers get "yukky" after about 3 pours and the candles start getting rough on the sides. Any helpful hints on washing up? I have about 100 molds, so it takes about a 1/2 day to clean them all up and start over.
Thanks.....

Cleaning molds

We learned early on not to wipe out the molds (thank you Melanie Throne for helping us!)...we scrap out what wax we can from the bottom--take the heat gun and heat up the auto wicks so all the wax melts off and let dry on paper towel. Then we put them back in the molds and heat under a heat lamp. We run the heat gun over the molds quickly before we pour. This really seems to help! We also have seperate molds for "white" candles (like vanilla)--than we do for colored candles.
Hope that helps!
