Making Votives

Candle Production and Quality SIG | The Chandler Guild Community

I am just starting to use the votive blend to make votives and tarts. I am having trouble with sink holes in my votives. What temperature or texture should the wax be when pouring it into the votive molds?Should I warm the molds before pouring the wax into them? Any help on making votives will be greatly appreciated ! Also, Has anyone tried making the dipped bears with soy wax yet? I have some customers asking me to make them.
Thanks,
Sharon

Sink holes in Votives

Sharon,
Are you having trouble with multiple holes in a votive or one single depression with the Phytowax P/V-1? It could be related to temperature,it could be related to products you may be adding to the votive wax, it could be a combination. What temps are you pouring at? Are you adding anything, such as stearic acid, to the wax? Stearic should not be needed in votives. It's hard to know exactly without seeing the votives or with speaking directly with you. I would go back to the basics and pour a votive, wax only,at the temp you usually do and work from there. Then change one variable at a time to try to pin point the problem. I know this can be time consuming. Give us a call or email if you have any questions.
