Perhaps you've read the recent news story about the Chandler Guild Training Going Global? We've also recently had our first on-line community member join us who lives in Sao Paulo, Brazil. And we're working on relations with soy wax candlemakers in Europe. As the Guild goes global, here's a first report and photos from Chandler Guild members in El Salvador:
Dear Mike and the Chandler Guild Community,
My name is Robert Cook. I am the Designated Missionary to Berlin, El Salvador for the Des Moines Presbytery. In October Milagro Rodregres visited your shop, and you were kind to show her how to make soy candles and sent home with her 50 pounds of soy wax and the equipment for us to begin making the candles. I believe it has tremendous potential for us here. Since our return we have been able to make several candles from Salvadoran made containers, some of them hand painted. Attached are some photos of what we made and sold. Two delegations were here and bought all we had. It is amazing that the tiny candles shown with the others are the first to be sold. Everyone loves them.
There is a delegation from the University of Iowa that will come on January 7th to see the work we do here, and are willing to bring more soy wax with them. We need at least another 50 pounds of it as we grow our business. Also, we need a scales to weigh the soy when we make candles, but there is no such thing in this pueblo. I would like for the delegation to purchase one, but what would I ask them to look for?
I think that is all for now. We will continue to build this business and see where it goes. Thanks for the incentive you gave us to begin making soy candles...an important product for people here to begin to use. Best to you.
