Scent Throw Revisited

Chandler Guild Training Ground | Fragrance, EO, and Dye Research SIG | Supplier Recommendations

Hi fellow chandlers,
One area that I believe we can all be very helpful to one another is sharing info on which scents give us a good throw.
The way it could work is anyone having trouble with throw in a particular scent could post that information and then anyone who has experienced good throw with that fragrance would share the supplier's name so the one having trouble might buy a sample from that supplier to see if it works for them.

This could save all of us a huge amount of testing time as well as sampling dollars. So ask away. If I have any that are troubling you, I am more than happy to put you in touch with my supplier.

I have 80 fragrances that I am currently peddling and have trouble with only one, sandalwood. If anyone has good luck with this FO, would you be willing to share the supplier with me?

Any other thoughts on this idea?

Good stinkin' stuff!

Greetings!

I am a chandler in the San Francisco Bay Area one of the main selling points of my candles is the wonder of soy - people love it! Its tough to produce really beautiful pillars time and time again since they seem to crack ALOT, but when they come out nice its really great!

I just read your post about sharing info on FO's and EO's and I have been getting my scents from several different suppliers on the web, but I recently came across the Essential Oil University and Lebermuth - Lebermuth has manufactured scents whose molecular structure is the same as their natural counterpart - which I found interesting since I wanted to use all EO's, but find many to be too expensive. I got samples of several of their fragrances and went ahead and placed an order (which just shipped today) on that order was Sandalwood, Jasmine, Frankincense and Myhrr among others. If you're interested I'll let you know about the scent throw once I do some tests. I'm about to place a second order with EOU for some new scents - so far I've only used their Ylang-ylang and its really nice.

One question for you - do you know of a Neroli FO? And how about Rose Geranium FO? Neither is offered at Lebermuth and they are in a recipe for a special line of candles that I'm developing.

I'd be greatful for any information you might be willing to share...

With warm regards,

Rose Geranium

Julee,
I believe you can get a geranium type FO from Wellington's--- http://www.wellingtonfragrance.com/oils2.html. That is the only place I've ever found geranium although I haven't been able to try it yet!
Hope this helps,

Scent Throw

Brian,

Great idea! I would be willing to share all of my fragrance information. I also think wick preferences would be good too! I'm not sure, but didn't we have a SIG group to address this? I am checking out a fragrance company that may be willing to do a co-op with our group.
As for the Sandalwood.....we use www.candlesandsupplies.com
Thier Sandalwood works great for us and we use Mike's wax.
