Conscious Community Conflict Resolution

Best Business Practices SIG | Chandler Guild Training Ground | The Chandler Guild Business Model

One of the most important life lessons that an entrepreneur learns is that any problem presents an opportunity.

I have been very direct and upfront both with postings on this site and at the Chandler Congress that a business challenge in my own company caused the delay of shipping goods to a few of my customers.

Several of these parties have posted complaints here at this website. The business challenge that I had encountered is now solved. The delayed goods will be shipped or a refund provided to these parties within the next few days.

I have worked dilligently for the past few months to solve this problem and now have a solution in place.

The postings of complaints presents a need and an opportunity to fill that need:

A complaint or a conflict needs conscious resolution not random complaints or increased conflict. Lawyers thrive on confict. Lawyers are very expensive for small business and creative entrepreneurs. We can create our own internal voluntary system of conflict resolution as an important benefit of Guild Membership. We will see the wisdom in this as this Guild grows. We do not need to wait for major conflict. We need to plant the seed of this function now so that the Guild can grow and thrive in a very healthy way.

The Chandler Congress demonstrated that our emerging Guild is made up of very intelligent and caring community minded people. Such an intelligent group can build Chandler Guild a busines model that is much more effective than present mass market "business as usual".

We need to create a function within the Table of Twelve for creative conflict resolution.

Any conflict or complaint would then immediately be directed to a team of three mediators selected out of the Table of Twelve members in a complaint or concern incoming mailbox at the Chandler Guild website. This way we get results and resolution, not frustration and disappointment.

Here at Chandler Guild we are building a nationwide network of small businesses. The Guild iis now becoming international. At present there are more than one hundred participants. As this grows, we expect perhaps a few thousand participants globally.

Many Guild members are starting to sell goods and services to each other, business to business. That is great, but it also presents the possibility of conflicts that need creative and productive resolution.

We need to have an agreement that is part of Guild membership by-laws that states that any conflict or disagreement among Guild member busineses will first be presented to the Mediation Team of the Table of Twelve for an internal solution.

With hundreds and eventually thousands of potential members in this network of microenterprise Chandlers over the years conflict and disagreements are inevitable. Let's put an intelligent system in place now when we are just being formed.

The Guild will grow as a strong mature growth according to what we plant now as a seedling. I propose that we set up our own internal Mediation/Conflict Resolution System now.
That will make this organization an exceptional business model. This will provide for an effective Guild for all concerned.

I am committed to building the Guild into a demonstraion of very creative intelligence and effective joint effort. This is a very important step to take now while the Guild is just being formed.

Are there three wise and just members of the Table of Twelve that are ready to step forward as th Conflict Resolution/Mediation Team? If you are ready for this responsibility that would create a great benefit to the Guild then post your names on the response section below this article.

Each new Table of Twelve for years and decades to follow can then follow this intelligent model if we create it now.
This will allow the Guild to demonstrate a new way of doing business that works best for all. Conflict can be creative if it is managed intelligently and an underlying concern for the Guild and Guild Members.

I have three sources of professional assistance that are very experienced in mediation and conflict resolution that can serve as a voluntary resource for our internal Chandler Guild Conflict Resolution/Mediaton Team These professionals can work with the Table of Twleve to build a system that works.

Best regards;

Michael Richards

Conscious Community Conflict Resolution

I am willing to sit as a member of a community conflict resolution team.
I will not, however, babysit.
Are there two others?

From the Ask And Ye Shall Receive Dept. - New Business Processes

Great suggestion, Mike.

But why stop at complaints and conflict? The No Time Like The Present Department is pleased to announce the initial roll-out of four new business processes to handle suggestions, issues, complaints, and yes, kudos (on the off chance that somebody might actually want to say something nice about somebody or something that we are doing here at the Chandler Guild. :-)

Forgot one thing

Mike

I want a cashiers check not a company check

Thank you
Jennifer

I have heard this before

Mike

I have heard this before from you. You emailed me this today and asked what we can do to resolve this. Although most of you may read the above and think...wow, what a great guy he is fixing it. I have heard this from Mike on several different occasions. What he wrote is the same thing I have seen, but worded differently. I will answer your question Mike for the whole community to see. I want my $1500.00 plus interest and I want you to pay for my travel cost when I went to Cedar Rapids and that includes airfare and hotel. Many of you may think that I am asking too much. Mike knows what he needs to do to make this right with me. He did me wrong and if he is the upstanding man that he claims to be then he will honor my request. I thank all of you for your support and encouraging emails. If Mike does what he says that he will do then I will have my money by next week and we can talk candles and not money. I look forward to sharing with all of you the good news of receiving my check in the mail. Until then cross your fingers for me. When I receive my check, I promise that my posting will only be candle related. I too look forward to getting past this.

A refund to Jennifer

Jennifer paid $1,500 for a startup package.

She only recieved part of this package as we had a delay with producing melting tanks.

Jennifer has now recieved a refund for the entire $1,500.

Not so sure

Hello All

As of today 9/18 I have not received a check so I am not sure what Mike is talking about. When I receive the check and it clears my bank then I will let everyone know. I want to thank everyone for their support. I believe that this site and exposure enabled me to get the ball rolling for my refund. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me.

Thank you again
Jennifer

i believe

Jennifer,
I want to let you and everyone else know that we received the second half of our $4700 refund today by cashiers check. Mike has kept us abreast of the situation all week, and I am pleased to confirm that this time he kept to his word. I do believe in my heart he is doing the same for you.
While I do feel for his stroke of misfortune this past year, and hoped that we wouldn't have to use this board as our venting place, it did come to that. I would like to ask every one of you detractors-what would you have done if it had been you? What lengths would you have gone to to secure your refund that has been dragging on for months.

As Mike himself has said, lawsuits exerbate the problem, and if everyone in the past year that has had a problem with him, sued him; he wouldn't have been in a position to start the guild and be a big part of it now.

Please keep in mind that most members are here because of their association with Mike and his business, the guild is an extension of his business dealings no matter what anyone says. As such, anyone with a problem should be able to deal with it in a professional manner.

It has been a pleasure to talk with many of you, however; our business with the chandler guild is concluded now that our issue with Mike has been resolved. I wish Mike the best of luck in growing the guild and his dream, and I wish each of you chandlers luck with growing your business and your dreams.

I apologize if I offended anyone with the name change, however, after being asked to leave the board after a contemptous start, I chose to come back and try and have a more postive contructive outlook.

Best Regards,
