On August 24th at the First Continental Congress, delegates elected the Chandler Guild's Table of Twelve, members who will guide the Guild during its formative year of development. The twelve members of the Guild's executive committee bring a wide range of skills and experience to the Table, and they live in seven U.S. states and Ontario, Canada.

"The election of the Table of Twelve is a milestone in the evolution of the Chandler Guild." said Mike Richards, founder of the Guild who will serve as the tie-breaking 'thirteenth vote' on the Table. "With election of the Table by the Guild's Congress delegates, we have handed off leadership from myself and the ad hoc organizing team to the Guild community itself. This is an energetic, passionate and skilled group. All members of the Chandler Guild have every reason to be pleased and encouraged that Guild leadership is in good hands."

Four members of the Table of Twelve are from Iowa, the center of the soy wax candle Universe; Kerry Bell, Kathy Carlson, Kelvin Morgan, and Melanie Throne. Two members live in Minnesota; Scott Belbeck and Brandi Larson. The remaining six members are; Brian Bock of West Virginia, Gwen Heimer of Indiana, Richard Roth of Colorado, Jim Salmons of Montana, Carol Winters of Wisconsin, and Debbie Williams of Ontario, Canada.

Congratulations to each member elected to the first Table of Twelve. We'll be adding expanded coverage to help you learn more about the Table's members. Expect bio profiles and brief 'platform' statements from each member in the days ahead.

Thank you

Thanks to all who voted me to the Table of 12. I hope to serve the Chandler Guild to the best of my ability.

Sincerely,
Melanie Throne

Thanks for adding me!!

Many of you do not know but I lost my 19 year old daughter in a car accident. It was difficult for me to attend even on Saturday and is the reason I was unable to attend on Sunday. The Guild is so important to me and was to Sarah as well (would have been a future Chandlier). I miss her dearly. It means a lot that you elected me to the table of twelve and that you lit the candle for me and my beautiful Sarah!

Many of you are too young to remember the controversial photo from the sixties of Mao swimming (or not swimming) on the Yangtze River. (For more on the Mao photo and other famous photo-fakes, see this CNN article.)

Well, take a closer look at our Table of Twelve photo. Kathy Carlson could not be with us on Sunday afternoon when election results were announced, and each newly elected officer ceremonially lit one of the twelve wicks of the Giant Community Candle. So, using our best Paint Shop Pro skills, we added Kathy to our group photo! :-) That's her between Sohodojo Jim and Carol 'Silverthroat' Winters.

During the actual ceremony, Mike lit a wick on Kathy's behalf, and we all whooped it up in recognition of Kathy's election to the Table despite her need to be elsewhere Sunday. Kathy, we hope you don't mind our adding you to our group shot. We know you were there in spirit.

For those of you who are curious, I've included the original, 'No Kathy' photo below.
