-- Coogar Products Donation Supports Congress and Guild --
Scott Cooper of Coogar Products LLC, inventor of exceptional wax
melting units and candle fill/batch machines, has generously donated a
wax melter to celebrate the Guild's first Congress and to support of
the evolution of the Chandler Guild business network. Learn more
about Scott's donation in this article:
http://chandlerguild.com/node.php?id=128
Thank you, Scott!
-- Registration Deadline August 20th --
Better late than not there, so the saying goes. We're extending
the on-line registration deadline for the Congress to Wednesday,
August 20th for those who can clear their schedule and make a last
minute dash to Cedar Rapids. Miss the 20th, no problem. Come on down
and register on site. We'd rather have you join us at the last minute than
miss this important event.
-- Guildmembers Internal Trade Show --
All Congress delegates are encouraged to bring samples of their products
and marketing materials for display at the internal trade show. If you have
supplies or services that you would like to wholesale to other members of
the Chandler Guild community, bring samples, price lists, and descriptive
literature to share.
The Guildmembers' Internal Trade Show at the Congress will be an
excellent opportunity for community members to share valuable candlemaking
and business best practices. Learn more here:

In addition to these two news flash items, we'd like to remind you
of the following important Congress topics:
-- Calling All Reporters, Photographers and Videographers --
Unfortunately not all Guildmembers will be able to join us in Cedar
Rapids for the Congress. These folks will have an insatiable desire to know
who was there, what was said, and who will be doing what as we move forward
with the evolution of the Guild. To capture and distribute this vital
information, we need your help if you will be attending the Congress as a
delegate. Bring your laptop computers, digital cameras, and digital video
recorders to gather as much information as possible for sharing with other
community members.
Enthusiasm is more important than experience. Learn more here:

and please post a comment indicating your willingness to help with this
important activity.

= Web Site Updates and Tips
=
-- From the Always Learning Department --
You'll notice a slight change
to the masthead navigation links on the Chandler Guild web site. These
links now read, from left to right:
* Home
* Guild Marketplace
* Guild Training Ground
* Guildmember Handbook
* About/Contact
* Press/Media Info
We've added the Guildmember Handbook link that goes to the collaborative
book that captures the business and candlemaking best practices of the
community. In the past, the Training Ground link took you to the Handbook
rather than to the page of its categorized as Training Ground items.
Fact is, most of the masthead links were kinda screwy as we were just
learning how to use our Drupal 'community plumbing' content management
system. Well, now we know better and have fixed these links. So the next
time you visit the Chandler Guild web site, click the masthead links and
check out the displayed pages. This update should help you find the
information you want on the Chandler Guild web site.
-- From the What's Ahead Department --
We learned how to fix our masthead links because we are hard at work
behind the scenes installing, testing and getting ready to deploy a major
upgrade to our web site's Drupal content management system. There are MANY
new and improved features that we will all enjoy. These new features will
be vital to the smooth running of the expanded web site activity that will
follow the Congress.
HELP WANTED: If you are tech savvy, especially with regard to web
site development (Drupal is PHP and MySQL), and you won't be in Cedar
Rapids at the Congress, please stand up and be counted. If you'd like to
help develop and maintain the Chandler Guild web site, just drop a
note to mailto:sohodojo.jim@chandlerguild.com to get involved.
-- Tip: Log on for Best Views --
To find content on the Chandler Guild web site that you may have missed,
be sure to log on to the web site with your username and password. Then use
the helpful links that appear in the light green column on the right side of
the each page. You'll find the View New Comments link especially helpful.
If you just drop by as an anonymous user and don't log on with your
username and password, you are missing a LOT. If the server doesn't
know who you are, it can't help you keep informed as it won't know
what you have seen and what's new since your last visit.
-- Tip: Produce and Consume --
And remember, don't be just a consumer of information at the Chandler
Guild web site. Be a producer, too. Create a Diary Entry anytime you want to
reflect on your candlemaking experiences or if you have a question you'd
like to pose to other Guildmembers. Post a story or an article if you have
more extensive information to share. And don't hesitate to join in
conversations by posting comments to existing diary entries, stories, and
articles.
