Congress Reporters and Photographers Needed

The Chandler Guild Community | About ChandlerGuild.com

Undoubtedly folks will want as much information as quickly as possible posted on this web site about what goes on at the Chandler Guild First Continental Congress. Folks are especially interested in access to the information presented by the five industry experts attending the Congress. (Frankly, I think the business organizing activity will be more important and needs thorough reporting.)

Let's not kid ourselves. Capturing this information, turning it into written reports, taking and preparing digital photos, etc. is time- and energy-consuming activity. There is no robotic team at the service of this web site. We already have folks calling us on the carpet for not communicating more news as quickly as possible.

Therefore please feel free to scratch this itch! Bring notebooks, pens, better yet laptops and digital cameras to the Congress and serve our community by being a Reporter At Large! You don't need anyone's permission. It doesn't matter if somebody else covers the same topic of event. Enthusiasm is more important than experience. Many hands make light work. And perspective emerges from many voices.

So jump in and, as the shoe ad says, "Just do it!"

Once you get a taste of the power and fame of the web reporter life, don't hesitate to think about joining the Chandler Guild Web Site Technical and Editorial Team, one of the SIGs to be formed at the Congress.

If you intend to be a Reporter at Large at the Congress, please respond to this story with a comment so we know who our budding Walter Cronkites and Connie Chungs are! :-)

And if you are sitting on the fence about doing this important community service for the Guild, please don't hesitate to post comments with any questions you may have.

Videographers, too!

Leaving no stone (or media format) unturned, we want to encourage anyone attending the Congress who has a camcorder to bring it along. The more we capture this event, the more we can reflect on it and glean ideas and action plans, etc. from the activity that takes place during this action-filled 48 hours.

If possible and folks cooperate, we may be able to edit together a Congress Reflections videotape that we could make available to Guildmembers (and interested media folks). This would be especially feasible if folks use DVT digital video as we can duplicate and edit source material more easily. And if we are REALLY lucky, we may be able to figure out how to stream video clips here on the web site to give folks a snippet view of the Congress.

Even if you record for personal use only, we encourage you to tape the main and break-out events. Then if there are questions about what happened or was said, we'll all be able to turn to our personal 'Zapruder films' to see what happened and what was said.

Please be aware, however, that we will have to secure the permission to audio and video tape the industry experts presenting at the Congress. We may be limited to journalistic reports with regard to some of these presentations.
